A single mom came to legal aid for help with an expungement of a felony committed as a young woman. The client was working hard to better her life by getting an education and pursuing a career that would better support her young children. One of client’s children has a disability and client was striving to move to a better school district that could accommodate the child’s needs. The past criminal record was a significant barrier to qualifying for internships she needed to complete her degree. Legal aid was successful in representing the client in the expungement hearing, and the client can now pursue her career and better provide for her family.
