A client suffering from neuropathy came to legal aid after falling multiple times while going to and from her second-floor apartment. She had previously completed two formal Reasonable Accommodation Requests, and yet the property manager had not forwarded them to the corporate owner of the complex. Legal aid was able to promptly file another Reasonable Accommodation request and contacted the complex Fair Housing Act coordinator to detail the client’s history of requests. Her request for a first-floor apartment was granted, and the complex was required to provide training to its employees so that others with disabilities would be given appropriate accommodations.
