A client came to legal aid with a social security appeal. He was unable to work because he suffered from serious heart ailments and diabetes, and had applied for Social Security Disability. With no income to make payments, his home had gone into foreclosure and he only had six months to redeem the home. Legal aid represented him to request an expedited resolution. Shortly after his legal aid attorney filed the necessary paperwork, he received an award letter from Social Security telling him that he was entitled to monthly benefits and back benefits. The client was ably to use his disability income to save his home.
