A clients’ property was being foreclosed. Although the home on the property had burned down in an act of arson and the insurance payout was pending, the clients wanted to retain the land and save their property. A Legal Aid attorney represented the clients and was able to get the bank to agree to adjourn the sheriff’s sale indefinitely pending the payout of the insurance money. The Legal Aid attorney then helped facilitate the payoff of the client’s mortgage once the insurance money came through. The clients were able to pay off their mortgage, save their property from foreclosure, and put a mobile home on the property securing a safe place to live.
