Housing

A client with a disability contacted legal aid after his house was in tax foreclosure. He was unable to access financial assistance for the arrearage and to make repairs, because he did not have a deed to the home.  He had unsuccessfully tried to probate his deceased mother’s estate. Legal aid re-opened the probate case, completed the process and prepared a deed for the home.  The client then was able to obtain a property tax exemption and save his home from tax foreclosure. The client also obtained assistance to establish eligibility for Social Security income.
