Post: Safety

Legal Aid assisted a victim of Human Trafficking.  The client was brought to the United States from Vietnam and forced to work in a restaurant for five years. After getting married, having a child and working to support the family, her father-in-law threatened to kill her. She went to a shelter and contacted legal aid for hep. Legal aid helped with the client’s divorce, maintained the protection orders for her, and verified that her status as lawful permanent resident would be unaffected by the divorce. The client can now live safely without fear of abuse.
